Mission

IF3 is an easy way to remember our purpose as a church. It answers the question: Why do we exist? The sole purpose of having a mission statement is to express in a simple, easy to communicate statement, what it is that we’re about.

All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. – Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20)

The Vineyard is on a mission – to share God’s love in practical ways to the community around us and to invite people to become disciples of Jesus. IF3 captures the two parts of Jesus’ “Great Commission” (quoted above):

Part 1:  Jesus has been given all authority, and he promises to be with us – with that authority.

Part 2: What is He doing with that authority? He is commissioning His disciples to:

  • Go out and make disciples. (Invite)
  • Baptize them into His body. (Connect)
  • Train them to do everything Jesus had trained them to do. (Equip)
  • Commission them to go out… (Engage)
